Error code 80072EFE comes up every time I try to do a Windows Update on my Dell Inspiron 1464 running Windows 7 Home Premium. I've tried all the solutions suggested: Running tdssrootkill tool (my machine is completely clean), deleting my anti-virus (Avast),
checking to make sure WU has firewall exceptions, deleting the catroot2 folder, and running MS Fixit - to no avail. I'm out of ideas and haven't been able to update my laptop since January. Any suggestions?
When you disable Antivirus: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable
it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
