Microsoft Security Essentials protects against malware. With the Windows Firewall enabled with MSE installed and running, the PC is adequately protected as long as you also keep the OS up to date with all offered updated via Windows Update and practicing safe computing such as not clicking on links or opening attachments from unknown sources. This is an interesting answer, but a little misleading
You don't need, nor should you use, any other security software that provides real time protection. You can use other security software, as desired, to scan the PC as long as it does not provide real time protection.

If MSE isn't detecting a specific malware, please submit the suspected malware:This is an interesting answer, but a little misleading
MSE states that it protects against malware but it does nothing to stop things like FunWebProducts being downloaded and installed in fact it doesn't even recognise it as been an unwanted or potentially dangerous program. Yet Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and others detect it with the realtime shields active and prevent it being installed.
Please go to https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/submit.aspx and submit a sample of the suspected file(s).
Please choose "Microsoft Security Essentials" in the product field.

-stevePlease note that on Windows 7 x64 and Windows Vista x64 both Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Microsoft Security Essentials are both able to run in real-time without conflicts.
On Windows XP (and possibly 32-bit editions of Windows 7 and Vista) adding file and process exclusions to Microsoft Security Essentials prevents issues.
