Had a rogue antivirus on PC and now cannot find Microsoft Security Essentials, cannot install new one ( says I already have one, cannot install another one) and I cannot uninstall because "Control Panel add/remove" says they can't find the files

3. Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application ever been installed on the computer?
4. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)

trying to reinstall MSE and keep getting error code 0x4FF02 what is this and how do I correct it?

What operating system and service pack?
Prior Security Software?
Any security software still installed?
A possible reason for this problem is that you have conflicting security software installed fully or partially on the PC. Remove all other security software from the PC.
You may need to use a cleanup tool to remove your prior security software:

The same thing happened to me when I tried to uninstall MSE. I can't download the replacement program, until I can be told the way to get the original one uninstalled...
