Outlook.com goes back to the top of the message list after deleting emails

Original title: Deleting emails

Upon deleting one or several emails from my inbox, Outlook jumps to the earliest email in the box wasting considerable time.  What is causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi ScottGrahamXH,

We apologize for the delayed response.

You mentioned that after deleting emails in your Inbox, you are jumped back to the earliest email in the message list on your Inbox. It is possible that this occurs because your setting for Default view after moving or deleting email is set to My message list. If so, please make sure that "The next message" option is selected by following the steps below so when you delete an email, the default action in the page would be moving to the email in the message list that is next to the email you deleted instead of going back to the earliest email in the message list.

  1. From your Inbox, go to the Options page by clicking the gear icon on the upper right portion of the page then go to More mail settings.
  2. Under Reading email, click Default view after moving or deleting email.
  3. Choose "The next message" option then click Save.

If you have further questions, please let us know.

Thank you.

The format in Outlook 2013 is different but I did find a similar setting under options and changed that and it fixed the problem.  Thanks.

Hi ScottGraham

Please can you tell me exactly what you did in Outlook 2013? I cannot find the similar option.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, it was a temporary fix and I have been dealing with the jump-back ever since.  I keep waiting for Microsoft to fix it through an upgrade but they haven't.

Stephen, I thought it was just me and not a Microsoft issue.  Glad to hear.  Wastes an amazing amount of time.

I use SMTP and POP3 servers so I assume it is an Outlook 2013 client.
