Duplicate Sent Emails from Mac Mail via IMAP

Sylvia_S asked on

I signed up for a new outlook.com email account. It works well with iPhone and iPad over Active Sync.

However, when I send a message from my Mac (Mac OS X 10.9.2), 2 copies are placed in the outlook.com IMAP Sent Folder. The headers are different for each copy, the 2nd is the one that gets delivered to the recipient:

I have the same problem and I have not find solution yet. For your info, if disable the option "Store sent messages on the server" from Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Mailbox Behaviors, then stop duplicate records of sent items, but stop and sync between local and remote sent folder.

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to us on this.

I understand you're having issues with duplicate sent items on Mac Mail. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Let me assist you.

Our SMTP creates its own sent items on the server. Eventhough you are using IAMP, when you send out an email through Mac Mail, it will use the SMTP. IMAP reflects what's on the server. So, there's the single copy of the sent email. The second copy happens because Mac Mail also has its own sent items folder.

We believe that there's an option in Mac Mail to turn off the saving of sent items. This way, you'll have single copies of sent items reflected by IMAP.

Here is where we've formally announced the availability of IMAP for Outlook.com. This duplicate sent items issue has also been discussed in the comments section of the blog at the bottom of that page. It is likely that there is where we will be posting the resolution.

Should you have further/other concern, please let us know.

Thank you.

Hello.

Are there any updates on this issue?

This has been very annoying for too long.

I have tried to disable the "Store sent messages on the server" and it keeps duplicating my messages.

I believe MS had more than time to fix this problem.

Any ways are there any workarounds?

Thanks
