How to change page margins to CM (centimeter) in Word Web App

I can only see page margins in inches. How can I set the default to being the metric system?

Pete

Hi Pete,

I would need more details:

Are you unable to find the options on Word web app to change the page margins?

If so, the option is available in Page Layout tab, click drop down for Margin and choose the desired option. You may also use the Custom Margins option.

If you are able to find the options and still do not have the ability to change it, then verify if this issue occurs only with a specific document.

You may try to change the Margins to Centimeter by opening the document in Word client and check if it works.

Let us know the results for further assistance.

The question is not that obtuse.  How do you change the Units of Measure in the Word Web App.

It must be set somewhere as on my PC, the Units of Measure in the Word Web App are in cm.  It does not however seem to be influenced by the Units of Measure set on the computer on which the document was created, nor does there seem to be any setting in IE, or the Windows Control Panel that dictates the UOM in the web app.

Hope this helps,

Did anyone ever find an answer to this question? I would like to view measurements in mm when using Word Web App, but I cannot find a way to do that. If the answer is "No, this app cannot display millimetres, therefore you must use inches", someone should at least tell us, so we do not continue searching in vain. Thanks.

That only affects the Word installation on the computer and has no bearing on the units of measure displayed in Office Online.  I suspect that it might determined by the standard units of measure in your geographic location.

I agree, it is likely determined by the Country/region setting of a person's

Microsoft account/Account settings/Personal info

the information there also determines the time zone, currency, date format (outlook.com) and so on of the various services provided with a Microsoft account

Bingo! That man deserves a prize! Thank you, Mr. Robbins! And a prize also to HansZoff for adding more info.
In Microsoft Account / Basic Info / Personal Details, I changed my location from Philippines (which tends to follow US convention) to Hong Kong (which tends to follow metric convention), and suddenly my online word app is showing centimetres. Bravo, sir!

...I wish Microsoft could give us the choice to select our favourite measurements on the page, instead of making us move to a different country!

Changing the location in Microsoft account to US changed CM to inches but also changed the proofing to English US instead of English Canada. Thankfully there is the option to change it to English Canada.
