Hi George,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community. We are glad to assist you with your concern.

As per the description provided, it looks like you are having issues with Word pointer.

Let us try the following steps and check if it resolves the issue.

Step 1:

Open Word in application safe mode and check how they work.

To do that, press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

In the Run open box type in ‘Winword /safe’ and hit ok.

Note: There is a space between Winword and /.

If application safe mode works, try disabling the add-ins associated with Office applications and check.

To do that, do the following:

1. Open the application. Click on File and then click on options.

2. In the Options Window click on Add-ins.

3. Select Com Add-ins in the Manage list in the Add-ins section and click Go. Now uncheck the all the add-ins and click Ok.

Step 2:

Change the default printer to OneNote 2013 or Microsoft XPS document writer and then try working on Word application.

If changing the default printer works, then you may update the drivers for the problem printer.

For more information on how to change the default printer on windows 7, refer to the following link:

I hope the above information helps. If you need further assistance with the issue, you can always reply and I’ll be happy to assist you.

Thank you
