Static row heights in Word Tables

In Word 2002 how do you stop the row height increasing when pressing enter inside a cell when there is no text in the cell. I do not want the row height to change to limit the amount of text that can be entered.

Answer

You can fix the row heights, but that won't stop users from entering more text than fits in a cell - the text will just disappear below the bottom border of the cell.

To set row height:

Click anywhere in the table.

Press Alt+Num 5 to select the entire table (or select it using the mouse).

Select Table | Table Properties...

Activate the Row tab.

Tick the check box "Specify height".

Enter a number (if you wish, you can specify a unit, for example 1cm or 0.5" or 30pt).

Select "Exactly" from the "Row height is" dropdown.

Click OK.
