Word for iPad - Did Microsoft really remove word count?

I can find help files that direct users to a word count feature under View in Word for iPad, however I cannot find this feature anywhere. My wife claims this feature was removed in the most recent update. Is this possible? It seems absurd that Microsoft would delete such a critical tool.

iPad 2

iOS 8

I do have an Office 365 subscription

Thanks,

Answer

I just activated a Word subscription on my Wife's iPad and when I click on Review, the second icon from the left displays

  • Number of pages
  • Number of words
  • Number of characters (with spaces)
  • Number of characters (no spaces)

in a dialog labelled "Word Count"

Hope this helps,
