Office on iPhone - why aren't web hyperlinks in Word docs visible?

Hello, I'm currently using Office with OneDrive and have several Word docs on my laptop with web hyperlinks embedded in the text. Just downloaded Office for Mobile on the iPhone platform as I need access to these docs on the move, yet when I load them up on the iPhone the web links seem to have disappeared - the original text is there, but with no hyperlinks. Is this an error? Or does Office for Mobile not support hyperlinks in Word docs?

Hello,

As per the above description hyperlink are not working for Office on IPhone.

A few more details would help us to provide you better response.

Were you able to use hyperlinks before?

You may also check with a different document if hyperlink works fine.

Create a link from phone and check if it works as expected.

Provide us more information to check and help you better.

Thank you.

Hi Raju, thanks for the reply. I've only just downloaded the Microsoft Office iphone app, so I can't compare the situation with before. But at present no documents display hyperlinks, and I can't create any hyperlinks from within the app either - as far as I can see there isn't any option to do so among the (very limited) formatting options. On the OneDrive iphone app I can see and click through to hyperlinks in Word docs, but of course all the docs one there are read-only.

On a side note, the formatting of documents in the Microsoft Office app is also very poor - nested lists and bullet points are all over the place, and I can't see how to zoom out or change the page view in any way.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

By design means the issue is reproducible on other devices (IPhone) which works the same way as it is on your device.

This is taken as a feedback and informed to the concern department so that they could take necessary steps to resolve this issue.

Thank you.

OK, so you mean the problem isn't with my device but the app just doesn't have that 'feature' at the moment?

Seems pretty incredible that Microsoft's cloud storage app could have been designed in such a way that web hyperlinks don't show up (unlike all of its competitors like iCloud, Dropbox and Google Drive)!

Please do pass that on to the developers - it's something they need to rectify very quickly, otherwise I imagine that many people will be switching to other cloud storage solutions pretty quickly, including me...

Thanks

Good news! For everyone else that googles this issue, hyperlinks are now fully supported in the Word app for iPhone. To insert a hyperlink, simply highlight the text you want to serve as an anchor, tap the "A with a pencil" icon at the top, tap "home" in the window that pops up at the bottom of your screen and select "insert". Scroll down to "link" and fill out the form with the URL you want to link your content to.

Hope this helps! I ended up here after googling for a solution, and figured the least I could do is provide others a quick answer.
