Duplicate Files shown in Word on IPad and cannot remove

I am running Word for IPad.   After working on a file and coming back to the main screen, there ends up being multiple copies of the file (I will try and attach a screenshot)

They are named the same, they have the same location (athough one of them is prefixed by https://d......docs.live.net. e5....).  I can work with the other file, but I cannot load or delete the strangely prefixed file.

Kind of frustrating since it does this for any file I edit.

Any ideas how to stop this from happening?

Did you save the file on the ipad. Do the duplicate files show when you sign into onedrive.
Truth is still truth, even if you don't believe in it.

To answer the 2 questions:

1)  No,  I did not save the file on the IPad

2)  No,  if i sign into onedrive.com  I do not see the duplicate files,  only on my IPad

When is Microsoft going to wake up and address the multitude of issues with MS Office for iPad!?!

8 months with no resolution, or even any acknowledgement of these issues is a complete and total abdication of their responsibilities to their customers!  If they were free apps, even then they would be derelict, but given that we have to pay for a "service" that is not being provided it is inexcusable!

We are completely unable to access our folders and files through the forced "use" of their cloud "non-service", Onedrive.  This makes MS Office for iPad virtually unusable.  The only way we can save any file is just to dump it into a "pile" in Onedrive, without any way of organizing our folders or files for later retrieval.  This is deplorable, no, more than that, criminal, given their total lack of response to hundreds, and likely, thousands of irate customers.

Aside from that, the apps are horrendously slow.  When I try to type into an app, the time lag before characters show up runs from 3 to 5 seconds after they are typed!  No other app on my iPad acts this way.

And now, a further issue has surfaced:  when I try to save a file, Word tells me that the file already exists!  No matter what I name the file, it says it already exists!  Just as a test, I named it "boop oop de doo", and it still said it already exists!  The only way I could save my file was naming it: "it does not exist", and even then, it only allowed me to replace the nonexistent file!

What at is the problem with Microsoft, that they are so incompetent in their total lack of response to their responsibilities!?!

You are totally right, iPad Word and one drive "co-operation" is absolutely terrible. The only reason I store files in one drive is that I have 1tb of storage and I don't have any option with office. It has the worst user interface out of its most obvious two storage competitors.

I have the same issues with deleting word files, it is hit and miss if they will actually delete. I get the "cannot delete the file is currently in use".

To over come this I have to constantly do the following

  1. Settings
  2. General
  3. Word
  4. Flick over both buttons to the right so they are on
  5. close word and open it again
  6. Then I have to sign back into word and hey presto it all clears up OK

Even using word on W8.1 at home is so slow compared to using it on W7 at work.

I like Microsoft, I want to like Microsoft but this is really frustrating
