Autosave is Disabled: iOS Word App

iOS Word app on iOS 7.

Word 2013 (from Office 365) on Win 8.1.

Updating a document on both platforms.

Make a change on the Windows platform.

On the iOS app I get a pop up that says 'Autosave is Disabled - This file is being edited by other authors. To save your changes, go
to the File menu and tap Save and Refresh.

I can't find a 'File' menu in the iOS app. I have Home, Insert, Layout, Review, and View.

I do have 'Autosave' enabled in the iOS Word app.

Thanks for any help or advice.

Hi Randy,

If you have the same document open in multiple devices, the “Auto save” option will be
disabled.

To save the document, you may uncheck the “Auto save” option as shown in the image below or use the “Duplicate” option which works as “Save As”

Hope the above information is helpful.

Thank you.

Thanks, Deepak,

1. I did find the iOS 'File' menu. It is actually an icon to the left of the more traditional looking 'ribbon' menu items.

2. Word 2013 has Options/Save 'Save AutoRecover information every 10 minutes' checked on.

3. Word 2013 Default local file location is my OneDrive Documents folder.

4. I do have the file open in both Word 2013 and the iPad app.

I suspect there is something I'm not understanding about how changes are synchronized.

In Word 2013 I see a 'Updates Pending' indicator in the status bar at the bottom when there are

iPad changes to be applied. That makes sense to me.

What should I be doing/seeing on the iPad app to make sure I'm seeing the most recent

changes from Word 2013?

Thanks.

Hi Randy,

You may close the document in any one of the devices.

Is there any reason that you want to open the same document from two devices at the same time.

Hope the above information is helpful.

Thank you.
