Title aligning in Word 2013

Hi,
I was wondering how to center align just a title or sentence without aligning the whole paragraph? Every time I try to align a sentence, the whole paragraph is aligned. The year of word being used is word 2013.

Alignment is an attribute of a paragraph, not a sentence.  Hence if you use the alignment features the will apply to the whole paragraph.

It's hard to envisage what it is that you want to do, but alternatives to using the alignment facility may be to use a center aligned tab stop, or to format the paragraph(s) involved so that they have neither space before or after them and the apply the center alignment where it is required.

Hope this helps,

I have the same issue. The problem is that for certain writing styles, such as APA, you are not supposed to leave an extra line space between the heading and the paragraph, and word treats it as all one paragraph. Thus you can't centre the title and not the paragraph.

Every time that you press Enter, Word creates a new paragraph.  If you do not want space after the paragraph containing the headings, format the paragraph in the heading style(s) so that they do not have space after them.  You should also format those styles so that they are kept with next to prevent a page break from separating the heading from its text.
