Inserted font switches from the default Calibri to Times New Roman

This is driving me nuts. The default font style is Calibri. Word 2013 (subscription 365) keeps changing what type of font I'm typing in. One minute it is the default Calibri, 11pt next it's Times New Roman 12pt. I've checked the default font and options--nothing strange there. It happens in multiple documents and also occurs if I copy and paste from another document that has Calibri font it gets pastes as Times New Roman. Somehow, it's seeing that as a default and I can't get it out of the system. I'm wasting hours correcting font so it's not all over the place. Furthermore, if I simply tell it to apply the "normal body tyle" (Calibri) to the text, it doesn't change it from Times New Roman to Calibri as it should.

What styles are applied to your content? It is possible the styles are not defined correctly and the style is changing when you press return because of the 'style for following paragraph' setting.

What happens if you select the content and press Ctrl-Q and Ctrl-Space? This should remove all the local formatting and show you exactly what the paragraph styles look like.

For now, I have deleted every style that listed next paragraph as "default paragraph font" instead of "normal".  I am wondering whether It may relate to the clipboard default font, but I can't figure out how to check that, let alone change it. I created a sample document with the issue, but do not know how to upload it here. It changes to Times New Roman even if the documents I am copying from and pasting to both use the default Calibri fonts.

Tried that. It won't let me post the hyperlink. I get an error message every time.

and you never sent the file to me either

Default paragraph font just means that no character style is applied to the content. Since Ctrl-space and ctrl-q don't resolve your issue this points towards the style definitions of the relevant content.

Without seeing your style definitions I would have to go into a massive monologue about how styles are defined but I haven't got the time for that. I do have time to look at an actual document that demonstrates your issue and explain why it is working the way it is.

I sent it the same day that you gave me the Gmail address. I'll try again. Perhaps it went into a spam folder.  You never know with cyberspace.
