Hi Tom,

As suggested in the earlier reply, uninstall the Office using Microsoft Fixit and check if it helps.

If the issue still persists, then refer to the suggestions in the following KB article and verify the results:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2822317/en-us

Thank you.

I am getting the same error after todays update, even system restore not office repairs does not fix the issue.

I also had the update that killed my office but I got it working again without losing anything but time.

1. I did system restore which did not fix it but did kill Norton 360 !

2. I logged into my online office 2013 account and looked at how many installs were done. Said 1 out of 5 but had a button to install so I clicked it and the install started to download. After what seem forever it rebooted and office worked, All of it, nothing lost !

Not saying this will work for everyone but since a complete destructive uninstall was the last thing I wanted to do I was willing to try anything and this worked for me.

Getting Norton back was similar, logged in to my account and downloaded it again.

Windows 8 HP Pavilion 15 Notebook, less than 6 months old.

No I did not create a new user account. I downloaded the Fixit tool but never ran it. I simply logged into my online office account a clicked he download button and it down loaded. After the reboot it has been working just fine, like it was before the update that killed office. 2 days now and still working.
