Word crashes when opening document based on template

Hi

I'm a college student with Office 2013.

I often use templates for the projects I write for my college work.

I now have several documents based on templates. Quite recently an error started occuring. Whenever I open a document, which is based on a template, word freezes. It just stops. In the bottom I can see that it tries to load the original template but fails to do so. So I have to close word down in the task manager. When I try to open it again, it ask whether I would like to run Word in Safe Mode. When I do this the document opens normally.

Any ideas of how to fix this. It is quite tirring to go through this process everytime I have to open a saved document.

Before we proceed, I would like to know more details:

1. Does this issue occur with a particular Word template or all Word templates?

2. Are you trying to access the document from Shared drive or from the local drive?

3. What is the complete error message you receive when you try to open the document?

Since the word documents work as expected in safe mode, you may disable the other templates that is installed for Word by going to the following location in the application:

a) Click the File tab.

b) Go to Options.

c) Click Add-ins.

d) Click the drop down for Add-ins and select Word Template.

e) Disable all the templates apart from the one you use and verify the results.
