Hello,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community.

I am sorry that you are facing issues with opening Word and PowerPoint 2013 on your computer. I will be helping you with this issue.

Crashes can be caused due to some third-party software or Add-Ins working on the application/s which do not allow it to function normally. We shall check this by opening Word and PowerPoint 2013 in the Safe mode on your computer.

In order to open Office applications in the Safe Mode please follow the steps as shown on the following Microsoft Resource article.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/why-cant-i-start-my-office-2013-application-HA104011864.aspx

Note: The above article list Safe Mode steps for all Office applications. Follow the steps as mentioned for the Word and PowerPoint 2013 applications from the above article.

Check if you are able to open the Word and PowerPoint applications (blank document) in Safe Mode and you are able to disable/remove the Add-Ins associated with the program/s (per the step mention in the article above).

In case the above step does not work then we shall follow these next set of steps to repair Office 2013 applications.

  1. Press the Windows logo key + X to see a list of commands and options. (Basically a quick way to get to Programs and Features in Control Panel.)
  2. Click Programs and Features.
  3. Click the Office 2013 program and then click on Change.
  4. Click Online Repair.
  5. Once competed restart your computer.

Check now if you are able to work with Word and PowerPoint 2013 applications normally.

Try the above steps and let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
