Word 2013: View Document Source Not Available

I am attempting to learn the source of an inserted picture / chart from Excel.  Word 2013 will not show the properties and the "Review, Compare, Show Document Source" does not work.  Show Document Source is grayed out.  Any idea how I can learn the name and location of the source spreadsheet?

Prior versions of Word permitted seeing the source code, but haven't seen the ability in Word 2013.  What am I missing?

  1. What are the sources from where you are inserting the documents or pictures.
  2. Let us know the steps followed to insert the pictures or documents in Word.

Review tab | Compare | Show Document Source has nothing to do with the source of OLE objects.

For linked objects inserted "In line with text," you may be able to show the underlying field code by pressing Alt+F9. You have to (temporarily) save to Word 97–2003 (*.doc) format first.
