In previous versions of Word (including Word 2010), when I use the "split view" feature to split the views horizontally, it keeps the current position of the upper and lower views. However, in Word 2013, firstly, the split box control is gone. I need to use the "View->Split" ribbon to split the view. Secondly, although I get the lower view via this ribbon item, I see the position of the lower view is far away from the upper view (at least in my case, where my document contains 100+ pages, my upper view stays at, say, page 95 but the lower view would go to page 1). Not sure if there is a way to keep it the same position? Thanks in advance.

I have tried. I can reproduce it with any Word document. My Word version is:
Microsoft Word 2013 (15.0.4551.1509) MSO (15.0.4551.1007) ARM
Microsoft Office 2013 RT
Best regards,

Hello,
As of now, within Word there is no option to have both the sections of the Split view to display the current page you are in. As a work around you may use the Replace and Find / Go To feature to find the page you are looking for.

I find it irritating to be told that we need to request a new feature for something that worked well on previous versions of Word. As far as I'm concerned this is a bug.
And by the way, the OLD way of opening the split window was much easier to use...

I searched for this as well, and the split document feature has been moved into the "display" ribbon tab.

I'd like to emphasize how true this is. The split view pull down above the scroll bar let me quick and easily split the view in an intuitive way! Now I feel like I have to "find" where I was in the document every time I split view. It's such an annoying hurdle that I would rather not split views anymore at this rate - what a serious loss.

I totally agree! This is something Microsoft has to fix in the current version, because it worked on earlier versions.

Perfect Ruminare!
Another problem with the split screen is that, in previous versions it was possible to drag de split bar down from de upper right corner of scroll bar.
It was extremely easier to split the screen before.
Now there is only one way to split the cell wiith the mouse, and it does not work properly.
