why error: word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error

This issue may occur if Word is set to run in Administrator mode. Follow the steps below to uncheck all the options under Compatibility tab:

• Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClentX86 or ClientX64\Root\Office15.
• Right click on Winword.exe and go to Properties.
• Now go to Compatibility tab and uncheck all the options that are checked.
• Now try to save the Word document and check for results.

Hello Aravinda.

I tried following your instructions but navigated to:-

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office 12

 - and inspected the Properties for WINWORD.EXE.

In the Compatibility tab all of the boxes were blank (no tick mark / check mark in them).

I was still getting this problem though:-

Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error.

Are you able to provide any more assistance please so that I can resolve my outstanding issue?

In MS Word 2013 (15.0.4711.1002) on dog-awful Win 8.1, I get this same error.

Dear Microsoft,

In the Win 8.1 / Office 2013 era:

- Your code quality is dog-awful.

- This round of product release Win 8.1/Office 2013 is worse than Win 95 / Office 95.

May the investors leave you since all you do is put share holders FIRST.

PC/Win desktop sales are dog awful since you produced Win 8.1 / Office 2013.

Not the Win XP / Office 2003 hay day when things were better for you.

And people like me advocated your products.

I could do in Word 2003 what I can do in Adobe FrameMaker 8.1.

Word 2013 is no competitor to FrameMaker 3.

I pay money for your products.

Hi to everybody.

I also experienced this saving error unfortunately. I conducted whatever advised in the microsoft forums however the problem cannot be resolved. After that I noticed that as the word is trying to save, the google drive is trying to sync as a vicious circle. Therefore, I paused the google drive and the solution has been resolved by this way. After word completes its saving, I make google drive to continue synchronization at the final step. It may sound manual but I could solve my trouble in this way. The best way is the one that makes you happy. :)

Here's a workaround I found helpful:  you can save the file if you give it a different name.

Yep, I did that, also. It would become Microsoft Crashy.

Word 2013 and Win 8.1. Win 10 is the dog dung of OSs. Rendered the Win 8.1 ASUS laptop wholly useless. Even after reinstall of Win 10.
