Styles and formatting in Word 2013 appears to be unstable

Microsoft Word 2013 styles appears to be unstable on documents in excess of about 75 pages.  I start to lose formating (text highlighted intermitantly looses highlight, Headings lose styles, etc.).  I reloded the software and it is unchanged.  Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Tim

Hi Tim,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Office Word Community.

I would like to know if the issue occurs with specific document or with all the Word documents.

Also versify if the issue occurs when you copy and paste the contents into the document.

You may check the layers of formatting applied to the document by using ‘Style Inspector’ feature and verify what exactly is missed.

You may refer to ‘Style Inspector’ section in the article given below.

For further queries, reply and we would be happy to assist.

Thank you.

That's not my experience.

Are you using a particular template for the documents?

What do you mean by Headings lose styles?

If you want to send me a document that exhibits the issues and the template from which it was created, I will investigate the issues.

Hope this helps,

The document may be damaged.

First of all, though, if style definitions are actually changing, make sure that "Automatically update document styles" is cleared in the Templates and Add-ins dialog box.

To display the dialog box: Display the Developer tab if it isn't already showing, via File tab | Options | Customize Ribbon. Then click the Document Template button on the Developer tab.

The link to the Style Inspector doesn't seem to give details about Style Inspector.
