Stamps.com Incompatible w/ Office 2013?

Hi Folks...

I wanted to reach out on behalf of a friend who is a business user of Word... I'm a developer and an MS loyalist so he sent me an aggravated email complaining that his Office 365 account, as I understand it, was "upgraded" to 2013 and now he can no longer use his stamps.com subscription.  As I don't use stamps.com or (yet) 2013 I'm at a loss as to what to suggest...

Anyone out there know anything about this?  I'd like to help him out if I can... thanks in advance for any input.

Paul

Office 365 and Office 2013 are, I understand, the same programs with different licenses. He should be talking with the folks at Stamps.com.

Thanks for that Charles...

My use of Office and Word are minute really.  As he explained it to me, Word as it exists in 2013 no longer supports postage plug ins, hence it doesn't work with stamps.com or for that matter any other postage provider ( I guess).  Apparently he's going to see about reverting back to an earlier version of Office/Word but obviously isn't a happy camper and since he knows I'm a true blue MS fan I'm hearing about it ;)

I'm far from a true blue MS fan. Just stuck with it 20 years ago and I've adapted.

Again, if he bought Office 365, he bought Office 2013, just with a different delivery and an automatic upgrade to the next version if he keeps his subscription going.

Microsoft often leaves collateral developers like Stamps.com to pick up the pieces when it makes changes. This is true of all major software providers that I know of. Realistically, they are the dog and the providers are the tail.

Hi Paul - this software has not been updated by Stamps.com to include Word/Outlook 2013. Go to the software stamp.com and take it up with them. It only offers 97-2010 at the moment.

Kind regards

I have this same problem. Everything worked fine until upgrading to Office 2013 through Office 365 Enterprise. I've called the people at Stamps.com and they blame MS for a last minute change but who knows. In any event it doesn't seem like there is any other postage option that works with Office 2013 either so for now if you need e-postage do not upgrade to Office 2013. Hopefully this gets fixed before Office 2015.
