Office 2013 Word: How do I hide comments

I would like to hide my comments to view the "clean" documnet I am working on.  The "show comments" button is grayed out.

1)    How can I hide the comments temporarily?

2)     Why is the "show comments" button gray

Thanks!

Answer
Answer
1. You can deselect the Comments option directly at Review tab | Show Markup. Or you can turn off the display of all balloons via Review tab | Show Markup | Balloons.

Note that showing or hiding balloons via Review tab | Show Comments is only temporary. By default, Word redisplays markup as you save or reopen a document.

2. Review tab | Show Comments is greyed out you have selected All Markup in the Display for Review drop down (Tracking group on the Review tab).
