Is it possible to use autocorrect to scan and correct an existing document/text block?

I have had to proof read/correct many documents all of them with the same simple error.  I added an entry into the autocorrect list but to make it perform the action I am placing the cursor after the word and pressing space.  What I would like is to have this done automatically either as I open the document or perhaps on demand via a command.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks in advance.

Without knowing specifically what you are looking to replace, I would say the only way you could do what you want is to create a macro with an assigned hot key to begin the autocorrect process -- a macro that would do what you normally have to do manually.  If you decide on a search and replace be very careful.  It may not be feasible to do an ordinary search and replace, stopping on each instance, but it is safer that a global search and replace, Good luck.

Tamzin,
I do not think you can make AutoCorrect act as you wish. Maybe a simple search and replace would be more the way to go.
