in 2013 autonumbering reverts to calibri how do we change that

I changed my default font to Times Roman.  If you turn off auto numbering then turn it back on, the font changes to Calibri.  How do I fix this so that it stays as Times Roman.  This only happens in 2013 not 2010.
How did you change the default font? Are you sure the change was successful?

I changed it by using the Paragraph Dialog Box and using the Default Button.  It certainly is successful.  I have been using 2013 for several months.  The auto numbering and bullets seemed to be the only thing that won't say Times Roman.

OK (assuming that you actually meant the Font dialog box, not the Paragraph dialog that is actually mentioned in your message).

How are you creating your numbered list then? Using a button on the ribbon? A paragraph style? A list style?

Note that it is possible to change the font for a list number in different ways.

Yes, I did mean the font dialog box.  I use the buttons on the ribbon.  The scenarios is this:  I start a numbered list by pressing the button.  I type some data; let's say I have 10 items.  I then highlight numbers 1-4 and turn off numbering by pressing the numbering button.  When I turn them back on, the font is Calibri 11.

See the article "How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in your Microsoft Word document" on the following page of the Late Shauna Kelly's website:

I haven't been able to reproduce your results so far. Applying, clearing, and reapplying number formatting does not change the font on my system.

If you set up numbering associated with styles, one for each level, as discussed in the article that Doug linked to, does that make a difference?
