How do I make Word 2013 stop asking me if I want to save changes to the document template if i'm not using the template right then?

I created a Word template. When i generate a new document from that template and try to save it, Word constantly asks me if i want to  save my changes to the document template. I created the template as a tarting place, and I don't ever want to change it? HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP?
Hi,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community,

Follow the steps to stop Word from asking to save changes when closing a document

·         Open your version of Microsoft Word.
·         Click "File," and then select "Options" from the
drop-down menu.
·         Select "Advanced," and then scroll down to “Save" from the
list provided.
·         Uncheck the box labeled "Prompt Before Saving Normal
Template
." Click "OK" to save all changes.

Please post back with the status of the issue or if you need any further help.
 Thank you

You can't prevent Word from asking if you want to save changes to a custom template. You can turn off the prompt to save the default template, Normal.dotm, but that just means Word will save the template without asking, which obviously only hides the problem.

What you should do is figure out why Word thinks the template has been modified. Are you modifying styles in the document? Are you adding Building Blocks? Macros?

If you let Word save the template once, do you still get subsequent prompts the next time you work in a document based on the template?

Have you tried starting Word in Safe mode to see if you still get the prompt? To do that, exit Word if it is currently running. Hold the Ctrl key as you restart Word the way you normally would. If everything works in Safe mode, the problem is likely caused by a poorly designed add-in or by code in the Normal template.

I am probably modifying the default font, so I will change the default font in the template to see if that helps.  Thanks for helping me think the problem through.
