Edit Chart Data in Microsoft Word 2013 Not Popping Up

When I click "Edit Chart Data" for a chart in my word document, it acts like the mini excel table popped up, but nothing is visible. It thinks it's open, as I can't try to edit data in another chart (it says I have another chart's data open).

Previously, I've solved it by just closing the file and opening it up over and over again until it works, but that strategy seems to be failing me.

It sounds like the data window might be opening off the screen or behind something. Is it possible that the data window was opened on a two-monitor system once?

Can you try opening the data window in Excel?

When you edit chart data, an Excel button opens on your Task Bar. Right-click on it and choose Maximise. It should fill the screen. Then close it. The next time you edit the data, a large, but not full-screen Excel window will display and you can resize it to suit.

I am using a two monitor system.

I can "Edit in Excel", but then I don't know how to change what cells are included in the chart.

I don't have an excel button show up on the task bar.

I can see excel running in the Task Manager, but there's no evidence anywhere, and no way to force the program to be visible.

Thanks, though.

Hello Morgan,

Thank you for your reply.

You may uncheck the DDE option in Excel by following the steps below and check if it resolves the issue.

Open Excel, File, Options, Advanced, when you scroll down under General uncheck the box ‘Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange’ (DDE)

I hope the above information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

The box was already unchecked. I think it may have to do with using the word doc as a template and all of the "Save As" getting it gunked up... I'm not sure though.

It looks like it's gotten worse.  Now when I try to save the files I get three pop-up windows displaying EndNote errors.

EndNote is a third-party add-in and perhaps there is a problem with it.  Try disabling it.

I also have this problem and the DDE box was also already unchecked.  I have never used a 2-monitor system.  Any further suggestions?
