Cant open 2013 word docs or app on Acer laptop

Randomly I lost the documents in my library so followed some advice and deleted library and then restored to previous library. That worked to get documents back except now they wont open at all except on Wordpad. The Word App wont open either. No error message - just nothing happens when any word document is clicked on. Help?
So are you able to open Word itself, then within Word open the doc?

No, its all completely unresponsive. I can open all other files but no Word docs....even new ones.

Yes a couple of times - said it couldn't repair but did say the click to add function wasn't working. Ive just turned my laptop on from being off overnight and once again all the documents and video files in the library were gone. So I deleted library and then 'restored previous library' and they are there again but I can stull not open any Word docs or the Word app. The video files work fine.

Have you tried opening the MS Word in Safe Mode???

Try this :
  • Go to the Start screen in Windows 8 or click Start > Run in Windows 7
  •  Type winword /safe and press Enter.
If the MS Word Document opens then you should disable or un-check various add-in including “Fun Tools”, Toshiba Book Reader or Abbyy Finereader. Many people have resolved there problems by disabling them.
