Bold font is not shown in pdf output from word

When I use a pdf printer, all is fine, but using the build-in save as pdf function, bold comes out as non-bold.

That is very weird.

Thanks for helping!

Are you sure it isn't just a display issue? What happens if you change the zoom in the PDF?

If you print the PDF, does the (originally) bold text print in bold?

I don't have an ink printer, so I can't test. The only thing I know for sure: when I use the ms office pdf print option, it eats my bold formating, when I use bullzip pdf printer, all comes out nicely as it should.

No clue how this can happen, but I am thankful for any help!

You will have to supply a file in PDF format, not just a picture. Any file that illustrates the problem works (there doesn't have to be any meaningful content present).

I had this exact problem too and realised why. I was using a "semi-light" font (it had the word "semi-light" in its name). Word will therefore not recognise it as bold when you export it to PDF because it already has a pre-defined weight, with that weight being "semi-light". In order to make it work, you need to change the font to the normal version and bold that (e.g. change it from 'Leelawadee UI Semilight' to 'Leelawadee UI').

Hope this helped :)

Same problem, same font. I started wondering why this happened since I tried with other PDF printers aswell and they all had this flaw. (yet it was displayed correctly when exporting). Thanks for the hint. That really helped me
