Excel 2013 grouping symbols gone

My +/- grouping symbols are missing in Excel 2013 along with the numbers showing the grouping level - the boxes are there, just not the symbols/numbers - any ideas??  Thanks!

Hello,

 

Let us enable the option ‘Show outline symbols if an outline is applied’ in the Excel options and check if it helps:

 

To do that, do the following:

Click on File and then click on Options.

In the Excel Options window, click on Advanced tab.

Under Display options for this worksheet:, click on select/enable the option Show outline symbols if an outline is applied and then click on OK.
