Word opens the wrong file

When I open word 2010 I have a document without a header or footer. I have checked my Normal template and it is fine. I have restarted word and still it opens without a header or footer. I am running Windows 7. Any guidance would be appreciated.

If you have "white space" hidden, that also suppresses headers and footers. Change the option in the Display page of the options dialog, or double-click at the top or bottom of a page, as shown in my reply to this recent thread.
