Word Mail Merge Shows the MERGEFIELD tag

Hi
I am using Word 2010 .. trying to create a mailmerge. In the address block, I added an IF condition to suppress a NULL field. When I run the mail merge the NULL field is suppressed but I get this tag MERGEFIELD in the area. Fr eg,
the merged field (after suppressing the null line looks like this):

John Doe
MERGEFIELD 123 SpringLane
Springfield, CA 93454

Can anyone please tell me how to make the MERGEFIELD caption go away?

Thanks

Did you use Ctrl+F9 to insert the field delimiters?  Or, if you did, it appears that you have the word MERGEFIELD misplaced in the If...then...Else field construction.
Hope this helps,

oh thank you thank for the reply. No, I did not use the Ctrl F9 .. I used the INSERT -> QuickParts -> Fields option.
Her eis how it looks with the field code un toggled.

«barcode»

«Name»

MERGEFIELD«addr»

«CSZ»

I used the following expression for the Field behind MERGEFIELD caption

IF { MERGEFIELD Name2 } = "NULL" "" "{ MERGEFIELD Name2  }" \* MERGEFORMAT  \* MERGEFORMAT  \* MERGEFORMAT  \* MERGEFORMAT

Thanks in advance for your help!

What you should have (when you use Alt+F9 to toggle the display of the field codes is

{ IF { MERGEFIELD Name2 } = "" "" "{ MERGEFIELD Name2 }" }

If you want to send me a copy of the mail merge main document, I will check it out for you.

You can decipher my email address from my signature or obtain it from my profile.
