Word Forms with macro calculations won't work when form sent over email

Hello,

I created a form that has calculations in macros.  The calculations could not be done using the calculate fields in the forms as they had dependencies and were too complex.  The form works brilliantly as long as I don't send it to someone over email.  The form is a pricing tool for customers to use.  Any ideas on how I could get this to work?

First, where are the macros stored? The default storage place for macros is in your normal template. That won't work for something you are sending to someone else.

Second, if the macros are stored in your document (a docm file) they will not run on a recipient computer unless the trust center settings on that computer let it. The recipient may not even see a message that they are being blocked.

If the files are in the docx format, that's a sure indication they don't contain macros. Their macros would therefore only be found in their template. As for the calculations, my Microsoft Word Field Maths Tutorial, available at:

and:

shows how to do a wide range of calculations in Word without the need for macros.
