Word 2010 crashes when inserting comments

I work in Word 2010 40 hours a week (using windows 7). I and others periodically get a Word crash when inserting comments using the Review tab. Usually, there is an error message after you start typing your comment, that says something like "Word has encountered a problem. You may lose your data if you continue. Do you want to continue?" When this happens, I usually say yes, hit save and then get out of the document. I then do an Open and Repair to hopefully get the glitch out. I've researched this online and can't find any explanation as to what is causing this and how to avoid it. I have read the old article from Word MVPs about corruptions but it doesn't address this one, which seems unique to Word 2010.
Does this problem occur with a single document, or can you reproduce it when adding comments to any document in Word 2010?

If it isn't document-specific, have you tried repairing Office (from Control Panel)?

It is not with every document. The last document it happened in had a text box where the text disappeared after the document crashed several times while someone was trying to provide review comments. So after seeing some discussions on issues with quick parts, I wonder if that contributed to the problem. Often I have no problems with a document, then I send it to another user who attempts to add comments and then the problem happens.

Since this is happening with some documents, try treating those as corrupt. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918429/en-us/.

This issue still has not been resolved. I have seen other forums where people have this same problem but there are no good solutions besides doing an open and repair (sometimes temporarily fixes it) and putting the entire contents into a new template.

The tricky part is finding the source of the problem.

Is it still a fact, as you wrote last year, that this does not occur with all documents? In that case, file corruption is a likely cause. File corruption could originate in a template and transfer from it into documents created from that template. Exit Word and rename your Normal template. Then create a new blank document and paste in the content of a problem document, minus the final paragraph mark (¶).

To show/hide paragraph marks as well as other nonprinting marks, click the ¶ button on the Home tab.

You could also troubleshoot for a poorly designed add-in; in the article at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/921541, see the sections that refer to COM and Startup add-ins. This is going to be a difficult task if the problem is intermittent, of course.
