You should NEVER open a document from a removable disk or save one directly to such a disk.  Document corruption is an almost certain consequence of working with a document that is opened from or saved directly to a removable disk.

Hope this helps,

The problem is that you are doing something that you should not do.

If you want to view the files, you should save them to the local drive and open them from there.

Hope this helps,

Hi Motaz,

Thank you for the replies.

Ideally, any files saved on the external drive can be viewed and accessed also edited. Provided the external device is connected throughout the process.

However, it is always advised to save the file locally, then view/edit the document. This will avoid the file being corrupted and data being lost.

Hope the information provided is helpful. Do post in our community for any Office related questions and we are happy to assist you.

Thank you.

I know that Aravinda, The file is not corrupted and when I copy it to my local hard disk it's open normally but refuse to open in the removable disk (USB Flash) like in the first post

Note: I test that in another computer and faced the same problem

Hi Motaz,

Thank you for the reply and sorry for the delay in response.

Since you are able to view the documents normally after copying the file to the local drive, the issue may not be with the Office applications.

I would like to know more information to assist you better.

Is the issue specific to a single document or all documents?

Are you able to view the documents on a different portable device?

Let us know the required information to assist you better.

Thank you.
