To be clear, exactly which "fix it" operation are you talking about?
If it is the one in KB 928218, that is not what I was suggesting you do. I want you to do an "Office Repair" of your 2010 installation.

That first message you mention appears to be incomplete
"(C:)users\sister\...\LiturgyL\AUG1813.DOT"
The file name shows that it is a file saved in her personal profile, probably the DOCUMENTS folder. So I'm guessing it is the file she is currently working on, "August 18, 2013"
The file extension, DOT is a concern. People should not normally work in template file format. From your description of the user, I suspect she may not be using the DOT format "correctly" (as it was designed to be used).
Are you up to using the "PSR" as described in this tip to capture what is happening so we see everything in detail? Start the PSR, then recreate the problem (so it is captured). Use the "comment" feature to add any extra descriptions of what you see or expected
to see you think will help clarify the issue.

If the computer came with an office 2007 trial, then the only way you could have Click to Run (CTR) is that Office 2010 was bought as an online download. In that case, CTR is integral to Office 2010 H&S.
The "Key" you are trying to use, is it 25 or 27 characters? If it is 27 characters then it is actually a "PIN" from a "Product Key Card".
Try downloading and running this tool to extract the key from the HD. Compare it to the key you are trying to use
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
- not only does Belarc
extract product keys, it reports on a WHOLE BUNCH of other stuff you want to know. Printing the report, or saving it is probably a good idea.

All windows machines have an admin account. In older versions it was the default ID, so many people used the admin account inappropriately for day to day work. By Win 7 MS no longer did that. Enabling the Admin account is simple enough. This tip describes
how to activate the admin account.
