Does the issue only occur when working on Word 2010 application or any application on Windows 8?

If the issue persists only with Word or Office applications, then you may disable the Add-Ins and then verify the results. For more information on the same, refer to the following link ‘View, manage, and install add-ins in Office programs’:

You may also check the Fix it Solution Center and check if there are tools to clean the Windows Registry:

Note: Take a backup of the Windows Registry before making any changes to it.
