Quick Parts and Footers

I am working on a document that will use Quick Parts to help build the final reports. I have 5 sections A - E, each with a separate footer showing the section name and page number. These sections are always used with about 75 Quick parts ranging from a few words to 8 line paragraphs to build the final document. These work fine when I have tried to insert in the document.

The problem is there are 2 rather large sections (one 5 pages and the other is 9) that have to be inserted after C and after D if needed. The Section C, Addendum I works fine; the Section D, Addendum II doesn't. When I insert it using quick parts, Section D's footer changes to Section D, Addendum II and vice versa.

Any ideas?

You have to click to deselect the Link to Previous option (on the Header & Footer Tools Design tab) before inserting the footer content.

By default, footers (and headers) in a newly created section are linked to those of the preceding section. This applies to each type of footer (header), which must be separately unlinked from its "neighbor" in the preceding section. For more, see http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/HeaderFooter.htm.

Also take a look at using the StyleRef Field. It is possible to get different text in the footers (or headers) for different parts of the document with the same header/footer.

I think the issue may have been I was trying to recycle a document instead of starting anew. Once I started from scratch - no problems.
