My version of office professional plus has stopped working properly.

My version of office professional plus has stopped working properly. I cannot access outlook and word will not allow me to create new folders. I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall it is still the same. It continues to show it as a trial product that has expired, even though I purchased it and have a valid key code. Everything was working without problems for over a year. I have windows 7 ultimate with a 64 bit operating system. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That often happens when there is more than one copy of Office installed, ie a factory trial.  The activation system gets confused.

Go into File menu > Help command. Do you see something like this, both "Product Activated" and "Trial Product" as in this example?

Take a look in Control Panel > Programs and Features to see if there is more than one copy of Office installed (other than Office 2010 Starter, which you can ignore).  If you do find another copy, uninstall it, boot the computer, then do an Office Repair of you HUP copy.

I have tried all of the suggestions and it still reads the same as you are showing me. I tried office repair from the uninstall program settings. There was office 2007 but I removed it. I removed all office products and reinstalled office professional plus and updated all of it. Still no luck.

Hi Patricia,

As suggested by ‘Rohn007’ in the previous post, what is the activation status of the Office 2010 application?

For more information on how to activate Office 2010 programs, refer to the following link:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/activate-office-2010-programs-HA010354227.aspx

If you need further assistance with the issue, you can always reply and I’ll be happy to assist you.

Thank you

Thank you for your response. I see both "Product Activated" and "Trial Product" .  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the product. I have done a repair of my HUP copy. Nothing has changed.

When you did the uninstall, did you uninstall both / all copies?  I didn't want you to uninstall the HUP copy, just the free Factory Trial.

There was no free factory trial copy. Only the full version of Microsoft office professional. I uninstalled the HUP copy twice and reinstalled it. Once last week and again today. I have verified the product code, applied it again through the programs in the control Panel, repaired it several times through the same, and still it shows the same  "Product Activated" and "Trial Product" . I cannot access outlook or create new folders. I am uncertain if there is any more that I can do.

Sorry.

Seeing both activated and trial has always, in my expierence, indicated that there are 2 copies of Office installed.. But since you have uninstalled all office and re-installed, that should take care of the problem.

Here are some official MS contact points that can try

Microsoft Online Electronic Software Download (ESD) Support

Sorry to be part of the finger pointing merry-go-round. But there are no official published fixes from MS for your problem. We can provide generic answers. You have to pester MS for help or ask for your money back.

Many Microsoft products and product upgrades can be purchased via a retail store or online, then downloaded to your computer as an Electronic Software Download. In addition to buying your Microsoft product directly from Microsoft, you may have purchased it from another company. Please select the appropriate issue below to get assistance:

I need assistance with downloading electronic software that I purchased from an Online Retailer.

I am unable to find my product key (25 character alpha numeric product key) or my product key did not work.

I need assistance installing a downloaded product or I've already successfully installed the product and need technical support.

Trouble Shoot Office - MS Office Configuration Analyzer Tool - OffCat.exe - Test for corrupt Office installation

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36852

Works with Office 2003-2013/365

The Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT) is a program that provides a detailed report of your installed Office programs. It scans one application at a time This report includes many parameters about your Office program configuration and highlights known problems found when OffCAT scans your computer. For any problems that are listed in the report, you are provided with a link to a public-facing article (usually a Microsoft Knowledge Base article) on the issue so you can read about possible fixes for the problem. If you are a Help Desk professional, you can also save the report to file so that the report can be viewed in the Office Configuration Analyzer Tool on another client where the tool is installed.

You can download a portable copy in ZIP format, or an MSI Installation file (Personally I prefer the ZIP installation).

For me, the first run for Word 2010 identified 2 hotfixes, even on an up-to-date Windows Update machine. Same for a 2007 installation, 2 hotfixes

*****************

The only other thing I can think to suggest is you break out the "big guns" and simply re-install Windows. That wipes out any "bits and pieces" that are causing the problem. It is extreme, but it is the last resort and may end up being faster than chasing around for a fix. Before windows re-install make sure to do a full image copy backup, and copy your data files to an external drive. Also make sure you have all installation file and registration numbers / product keys for all installed software.
