Multiple Legacy Text Boxes on same line - stop movement

I have a form with 3 boxes in Word and I used legacy text boxes for peers to enter in data.

When someone starts typing a name (for example) in text box 1, text box 2 and 3 (on the same line as text box 1) all shift to the right and mess up the formatting.

How do I stop this?  Do I need to create columns?  Oh boy...

Thanks,

Joel

Answer

Click on the Show\Hide (¶) button to reveal what is separating the textboxes.

It is probably a whole series of dots

{ FORMTEXT }.....................................................{ FORMTEXT }...............................................{ FORMTEXT }

If that is the case, you need to delete all of those dots (spaces) and then separate the fields with a single tab space and set tab stops at the required locations so that the fields are left aligned inside the border of the "cell".

That will stop the fields from moving UNLESS the amount of text that is entered is too much to fit in the available space created by the tab space.

Hope this helps,
