Question

Mail merge rules using if then else for a date

I am trying to find out with in word 2010 how to use mail merge and the If...Then....Else with a date.  My data source has a field called "due date" and I want to run a mail merge that says "If due date is greater than or less than 5 Oct 2011 say "insert text" else "insert test".

Is this possible?
