mail merge address labels spaces between words

Word 2010 and Excel 2010

I use the mail merge wizard and create address labels.  The labels include extra spaces between first name and last name and also between city and state.

XXXXXX                     XXXXX

XXXXXX ROCKY POINT                

XXXXXX             , NY          XXX31

I don't have extra spaces in the Excel list and I haven't been able to find this problem online.

Are they spaces or an alignment issue - press the ¶ button on the Home tab to display the formatting.

I also suspect that you are using an AddressBlock field. You would probably be better inserting the individual address fields and formatting them as required.
