Lost an important document! Reverted to old version, how do i find it?

I've been working on a document for the last month, and yesterday I got a lot done, constantly saving every few minutes. Today, I went back to the document and all was fine and then my laptop crashed, but I managed to get onto word, save it and then restarted my computer. When I've gone back to the document it has reverted to a version from 4 weeks ago, and I can't find any trace of the newer version. I have tried everything- searching in all files, searching for temp files/asd files, it is not in the autosaved/unsaved file and I have no idea what to do now. Can anyone help? Any suggestions?

Locate the doc in explorer, rt click>properties does recent versions produce anything?

And if you had the auto backup option set in Word, in the folder that doc was saved in are there any files *.wbk?

To late in the day now but some third party Imaging/backup programs backup on the fly and include timed revision versions of any doc

Thanks, but it says there are no previous versions available, really confused as to why it has let me down this time!

Do NOT use a memory stick to save or edit a doc on it. Save any doc to the local PC and copy that to stick, and if neccessary copy back from stick to the local pc to edit

Not all memory sticks are equal, some are given away
