How do you enable the inactive application add-ins, such as the hidden text document inspector, in the backstage view, in Word 2010 (14)?

The "Manage > Disabled Items > Go" function at the bottom of the window says that there are no disabled items.

In order to use the Document Inspector in the Word documents using Word 2010, try the steps below:

  • Open Word 2010,
  • Click on file and then Word options.
  • Select ‘Trust Center’ and then at the button ‘Trust Center Settings’
  • Click on ‘Document Inspector’ under the section "Document-specific settings".
  • Now click on the button to open the "Document Inspector" dialog box.
  • Find the option "Hidden Text" and Click checkbox to put a right mark (check) in it, which will enable the option.
  • Now you can click on ‘Inspect’ button of the ‘Document Inspector’ dialog box to analyze the checked type of data.
