How do I stop the Navigation pane from opening by default?

Hi. I want to stop the Navigation pane opening by default and see in someone's reply that I can do this in the Normal.dotm file. Where do I open the Normal.dotm file from? thanks, Dollo

To stop the Navigation Pane opening by default:-

1. Close the Navigation Pane in the document in which you are working and then close the document itself.

2. Close WORD.

3. The next time that you open WORD the Navigation Pane should not appear there.
