How do I insert a scan from my scanner into a Word 2010 document please. Scanner is HP photosmart C4580

Have tried to insert but cannot find anything under the insert tab related to a document.

Can do pictures but unable to insert a 3-4 page document into Word. Help please

If you're expecting to insert the scanned material as editable text, that isn't something that Word can do. You need optical character recognition (OCR) software that "reads" the scan and outputs the characters.

According to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&softwareitem=oj-72836-2 there should be an OCR program among the software included with your printer/scanner.

If you can't find it or it doesn't work well, and if you installed OneNote as part of Office 2010, you can insert the scan into a OneNote page, right-click it, and choose Copy Text from Picture. Then switch to the Word document and paste from the clipboard.
