How can I stop Word 2010 from skipping a line every time I hit ENTER?

Word 2003 did not insert extra line feeds.  Why does Word 2010?  Can Word 2010 be set to work more like Word 2003 by default?

All that you need to is format the amount of space either before or after a paragraph.  It's exactly the same as in 2003.

Make that setting the default if you never want a space between paragraphs. It is however quite usual to have a space between paragraphs and that should not be obtained by pressing the Enter key twice. If you want to start a new line rather than a new paragraph, use Shift+Enter.

Hope this helps,
