Error when opening Microsoft Word

Hi,

I am having trouble opening microsoft office (word, excel & powerpoint) 2010. The error message that I get is "the operating system is not configured to run this application". It was working alright until yesterday and today all of a sudden, i am getting this error. Kindly help me fix this problem!

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit operating system.

Hi Sweety,

 

This issue may occur if Word is set to run in Compatibility mode, let us follow the steps below and check if that helps.

 

Let us follow the steps below and check if it helps:

• Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 14\Office14.

• Right click on winword.exe  and go to Properties.

• Now go to Compatibility tab and uncheck all the options that are checked. Open Word and verify the results.

If you are running a trial version of some older Office version on the computer, try uninstalling it. Then repair Office 2010 from Control Panel; see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/repair-office-programs-HA010357402.aspx?CTT=1.
