Can't see tab stops in Word

I have the ruler visible in Word but it doesn't display my tab markers despite the fact that I have some set.  I also can't see the paragraph indent markers that are generally on each side of the ruler.

I can't seem to find any help topics about this or how to display these.  Everywhere just says to turn the ruler but my ruler is already on.  I have tried taking it off and putting it back on but this hasn't helped.

This is a screen dump of my screen in word

Below circled in red is what I am missing

Would love some help.

Thanks

Renee

Your screen capture of the ruler shows the tab stop and paragraph indent markers.

Are you talking about these disappearing at other times (like when you have selected multiple paragraphs) or do you want to see the actual tab on the page?

Sorry

As soon as I posted this earlier reply I saw the first screen capture. That looks to be an bug in Word 2013 which seems to occur when a user opens Word with a document that starts with a table. If you do a search on this forum you will find very long threads where is is discussed. Is that the case in your experience?

Thanks for your feedback.

I see the threads you are referring to.  I do use a particular document everyday that starts with a table, so yes perhaps that may be the issue.

I have found another thread though which has fixed my problem.

The post by nadeaum26 on June 3 2014 regarding the check box in "File -> Options -> General -> Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view."

I had unchecked this as I really don't like reading view, but when I went in and checked and unchecked again hey presto tab stops etc are back.

Thanks for your help.

A fix has been included with the August updates, so make sure that your Office 2013 installation is fully patched.
