Can Word 2010 auto-populate cells based on Drop-down input?

Using Word 2010, I am trying to devise a way to make a cell autopopulate with a value based on a selection from a drop down menu in another cell of the same table.

For instance, suppose I have a drop down menu in Cell A1 with the names

Pizza1

Pizza2

Pizza3.

I want cell B1 to populate with a price based on which pizza is selected in the drop down menu.  I've been serching for a couple of days and haven't seen any guidance on how to make this work, or if it is even possible.  Any help woudl be greatly appreciated.

You would use an IF field to test the A1 result and display what you want. Note these are case sensitive.

Charles, thanks for the tip.  I'll read up on the IF function and give it a try.

I saw that I could specifiy a different display name and value for each entry in the drop down list, and I was really hoping I could use a field or function to get the value of A1 into B1 based on the display name in A1, but I can't figure out how to do it.

I do not believe the display name serves any purpose but am unsure.
The IF field looks at a Bookmark as the name.

You could use and adaptation of this:

http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_pages/linked_content_control_dropdown_list.html

just make the slave CC a text box and set it = to a value.

There is a way to do this with the Display and Value properties of the dropdown list entry, but you will have to learn how to map content controls:  http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_pages/cc_var_bm_doc_prop_tools_addin.html

basically you map the dropdown to a node and map a plain text cc to the same node.
